Celebrate your PA Dutch heritage with a custom-made, keepsake quality, traditional PA Dutch Hex Sign. Our 1/4" acrylic hex signs are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The traditional primary colors are a great contrast to the weather-proof, white acrylic base. After we laser engrave the design, we hand-paint the PA Dutch Hex sign using premium acrylic artist paints. Finally we add more sheen and outdoor protection by applying a clear coat with a product called Frog Juice. The combination of the white acrylic base, the highly pigmented artist paint and the UV-protection and weatherproofing, provided by the Frog Juice coating, makes your sign suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. (Note that if you hang your sign outdoors it will fair better with some type of overhead protection and not in direct sunlight all day long).

An info card with both the English and PA Dutch poems labelled in the photo as text on back (we do not engrave the back of acrylic signs) and the meanings of the various symbols on your Hex sign is included. Two to four holes are predrilled for ease in hanging. We have made 100's of traditional Hex Signs over they years and proud to keep this tradition alive.

A BIT OF HEX SIGN HISTORY
Hex signs are a form of Pennsylvania Dutch folk art, related to fraktur, found in the Fancy Dutch tradition. Being in the midst of PA Dutch country we see hex signs on homes, businesses and barns. Many folks attach meanings to the symbols and colors in the signs. We do include this information, but I see the hexes as purely decorative, or "Chust for nice" as in the local dialect. Almost all of the hex signs represent Luck, Goodwill and/or Happiness. Interestingly Hex signs are a Pennsylvania Dutch custom, not to be confused with the Amish who did not adopt the custom of decorating their barns and do not use hex signs to this day. We have PA Dutch in our blood and grew up with our Grandma and Mom speaking Dutch whenever they did not want us kids to know what they were saying. Even to this day Dutch phrases, such as snicklefritz, nix-nux, rutching around and Gott Im Himmel were directed to our children and now to our grandchildren! My kids even learned Dutch in pre-school and we can all sing Happy Birthday in PA Dutch!
